A significant building in the town since the 16th century, the property is an elegant Georgian mansion set in the heart of the town’s historic Heritage Quarter.
This building has an intriguing past. Its many uses include police station, fire engine storehouse, council committee rooms and offices, magistrates’ court and museum. After more than 150 years serving the local community in a variety of civic roles, the building finally fell into disrepair in the 20th Century after the opening of town's new Magistrates Court and Civic Centre.
Following a three year programme of restoration, the property proudly opened its doors to the public again in 2010. The mansion now provides a unique and historical setting for filming, weddings and corporate events alike.
